Went to see the Gene Krupa Orchestra with my father, brother and cousin tonight at the Iridium Jazz Club in Manhattan. I always enjoy the swinging big band stuff the best and this was no exception. Particularly enjoyed vocalist Hilary Kole’s numbers — what a voice — and a tune called Wire Brush Stomp featuring drummer Mike Berkowitz.
I get such a kick out of seeing people using their gifts and loving the heck out of it.
