Somewhere high on the list of coolest things ever is an exhibition that will be at the Museum of Modern Art until Feb. 2, 2009. I discovered it with a friend en route to the Van Gogh exhibit the other day. It’s called “Pour Your Body Out” and the artist is Pipilotti Rist.

Basically, you recline on a huge O-shaped couch (or, as it’s officially called, a sculptural seating island) in the atrium while 25-foot moving images surround you on three sides. I really can’t do it justice with words. Suffice to say my friend and I took off our shoes (you have to) and joined in the serenity. There are images of tulips swaying in a field, a huuuuuuuuuge foot stepping in a puddle, things like that. And very soothing music to go with it.

Get an idea of the scope by checking out the video on the official page.

I will be going back.
