Today’s Game Plan was my opportunity to talk about what makes a home, why I’m a happy renter and what it all means in the definition of the American dream. And I got a little help from some women who are more than at ease with the written word: Emily Dickinson, Maya Angelou and Elizabeth Gilbert.
Testimonials:
“I don't know why it took me so long, but I found your blog today ... Thanks for expressing your thoughts clearly and authentically. And thanks for wading out into new waters and encouraging me to do the same. It was a refreshing start this morning.”
"I get so much support from your writings - that's why I usually save them for evening reading, when it's quiet and I can think ..."
"Your column changed my life today ... [it] helps me jump into one of my opportunities today with renewed joy."
I remember when a girlfriend of mine moved to Ireland for a change of scenery. When I asked her about this life change, how it felt to pick up and leave everything behind, she told me her favorite part was knowing that “everything I own fits into my suitcase”. This was a freeing feeling for her and a nice lesson for myself that laying down roots has more to do with engaging our surroundings than plopping down our possessions. Loved your column!
Thanks, Erin. What a great story.
