I used to hate being forced to listen in on an hour+ worth of inane cellphone conversations on the LIRR train. But then I took my misfortunes and created funny stories out of them.
Don’t you see the opportunities in listening in on some of this cafe dialogue?

I get your point, Deb. But honestly, in this particular case I could write this dialogue in my sleep. I lived it. The whole angst of staying out too late and then having to work in the morning, etc.
But that said, I know what you’re saying. I have taken pieces of real conversations in the past and used them in writing, for sure. It’s a great tool.
