Despite all the Michael Jackson saturation in the media, this one just had to be written. It was eating at me. Most people either idolized him or reviled him, it seems. For me it was more complicated and this comes after much reflection, digging into writer Maureen Orth’s Vanity Fair archives, and even researching 12-year-old singer Shaheen Jafargholi (Britain’s Got Talent) after he performed at Jackson’s memorial service.
