I called Cablevision, was bounced to Scripps, which picked up my call after some time. Cablevision had a canned message telling me to be sure to tell Scripps to drop their outrageous demands for a higher feel, and when I got a rep from Scripps he said that Cablevision had stopped paying them a fee at all when negotiations began. That’s when they pulled the channels. I told the rep that I knew he didn’t have much clout but I wish he would tell his bosses that both parties should stop being so childish by making the viewers suffer, because the longer the channels were off the air the sooner we would forget about them and watch other channels anyway.
Like you, I probably watch too much television, have wearied of House Hunters and the idiotic cooking competition shows. I have faves that I’ll miss, but c’est la vie, especially on cable television.
Nice post! I’m sorry to see those channels lost but as you said, they’ll settle I’m sure and they’ll be back. I know with Directv if I lost the YES network I’d freak out also. Such a bad way to do business and hurt the consumers.
I also agree that I watch too much TV sometimes, and thought a good New Years Resolution would be to watch less and read more…
“I don't know why it took me so long, but I found your blog today ... Thanks for expressing your thoughts clearly and authentically. And thanks for wading out into new waters and encouraging me to do the same. It was a refreshing start this morning.”
"I get so much support from your writings - that's why I usually save them for evening reading, when it's quiet and I can think ..."
"Your column changed my life today ... [it] helps me jump into one of my opportunities today with renewed joy."
