It seems like every week there’s some high-profile personality who gets into a situation that raises the topic of objectivity in journalism — Rick Sanchez, Juan Williams, Keith Olbermann. Which means the public repeatedly weighs in on the subject with little clue as to what journalism is supposed to be.
So in light of all that and my absolute delight at the recent journalistic gem by Eric Wilson in The New York Times about Courtney Love, I put together some thoughts from my somewhat old school background.
