I guess you could say I’m a little bit invested in Barbie. I’m not a big collector or scholar on the subject, just a fascinated observer who once took a course at The New School called “Deconstructing Barbie.” Oh, and there’s a shelf on my massive wall of books that is entirely devoted to Barbie literature.
So logically her relationship with Ken intrigues me, especially Mattel’s latest campaign to bring the two back together after a split in 2004. I couldn’t resist the opportunity to ‘life coach’ both — Ken today and Barbie on Friday.
