It’s been so long I almost forgot how engaging the writing and acting is on The Sopranos. Been catching some of the reruns lately and keep marveling at the compelling storylines based on how seemingly conflicting values mesh, the depth of the characters, and the dynamic of mixing family, crime, sex and religion.

I’m not particularly thrilled about the stereotypes, but it’s art and provides context around them. So blessedly unlike the reality shows now making Italian-Americans look like dolts.
