One day last year fashion designer Stacy Igel offered to bring me along on an informal Twitter tutorial she was getting from social media guru Ted Rubin. We sat in a conference room in Chelsea and Ted — on his own time — helped us understand the value of the medium.
Since that day last spring, I’ve come to appreciate more and more what’s useful and fun about Twitter. This is just a slice.
Today’s Game Plan: Simple Tweets, Smart Connection
Great explanation of what Twitter can do, Nancy. I’m one of those exact people you talk about–the confused person who hasn’t been able to grasp what the Twitter fuss is about.
I’m wondering, though: How in the world did your local FedEx deliveryperson see your tweet? Did corporate scout it out somehow (and if so, how? with the millions of tweets out there), then forward it to her, and then she tweeted you personally? If that’s what went down, then FedEx really IS on board with social media.
Thanks, Mary Ann. This column got a lot of great feedback, so you’re not alone!
As for FedEx, that was not my personal delivery person. What I believe happened is FedEx has a search set up for its name and has someone responding to each one that comes up. Very smart and thorough because the return is great impact for a common sense effort.
