I had no plan to watch the movie Game Change (based on the book by John Heilemann and Mark Halperin) on HBO. Not because I had any conscious objection to it, it just wasn’t on my radar. But Saturday night I was physically and emotionally drained from a rough week (see previous posts) and happened on it while I was channel surfing.

I was quickly absorbed and then riveted to it. Really fascinated by the emotional and psychological aspects of what unfolded in that 2008 presidential campaign after the announcement of Sarah Palin as the vice presidential candidate. Julianne Moore was terrific in the role, but what might be more impressive is that I was so caught up in what was happening that the actors faded away and I focused on story. And on the humanity and relatability of people instead of their politics.
