All layers of gifts

by Nancy Colasurdo on July 18, 2012

This one is pretty self-explanatory. Last week I was picking up a book for a friend’s child and wound up deep in conversation with the guy selling me the book. I had seen Woody Allen’s To Rome With Love a few days before, a little escape to New York’s Angelika Theatre that I did for my sanity. Here’s what happens when those two things intersect.

Today’s Game Plan: We All Have Gifts, But the Question Is: Are We Using Them?

Thank you for such an inspiring, motivating article. I’m 44, no criminal record but a very unstable job history. The only thing I care about is writing my novels. I have one self published and one self e-published. I’ve tried sending samples to agents but I can’t even get a rejection letter. I’ve sold a few to friends and family but I can’t find any help from actual people beyond “read this book” or “go to this website.” I miss humans helping humans achieve, that’s what made this country great and I submit will make us so again. -Jason Goldtrap, Davenport, Florida

Jason, my goodness. I confess to being emotional in general these days, but this made me tear up. Thank you for writing. Please continue to use your gift. There is such a fine line, I suppose, between these stories we hear about “The Help” and “Harry Potter” being rejected many, many times and the author giving up as opposed to knowing darned well he or she has a quality product with a message and it’s worth pushing. Sounds like you’re in the latter category. Keep on.

Great article.

I’m one of those people who has multiple gifts but can’t seem to put any of them together in a cohesive way. One of them is to teach but I hear so many horror stories, I fear to get into conventional teaching. I’m contemplating how to segue into another mode of teaching people.

Another is music, I’m a concert-level pianist and I have had some success at teaching. I fear, however, to try to make a living at it.

There are several others. I don’t know what my problem is in terms of getting motivated for something and sticking to it. Perhaps some VERY expensive therapy might help!

Thanks, Lou. I appreciate the thoughtful feedback. Contact me through this site and we can set up a free one-hour coaching consultation if you’d like. Maybe we can drill down on that issue.

I may just do that, Nancy.

Cheers!
