Confidence is one of those over-used words, especially in life coaching circles. But truly one of the best things about hitting my 50s has been that feeling that I know who I am and what I like and where I excel. A friend expressed this over drinks recently and, presto, a column was born.

It also got me thinking about Lena Dunham’s Girls (I watched the marathon on HBO a few weeks ago), the emotions that play out, and how I was the opposite of confident in my own 20s.
