Embracing sacrifice

by Nancy Colasurdo on August 15, 2012

I watched very little of the Olympics. Had the thrill of seeing the women’s soccer team in the semifinals (a riveting match) and then win the gold medal and was so happy I could tune in. But even the events I didn’t watch, the main message that came through media and people talking about it was this — marvel at the sacrifice the athletes make.

This is the story during every Olympics and everyone gets so engrossed for good reason. But could we maybe apply this to our own lives in even small ways? That idea, contrasted by repeated commercials for Lipozene, set my ‘pen’ in motion.

In starting my own coaching business a year ago, I knew that I would have to sacrifice the assurance of having a steady paycheck. There have been some lean months in this tough economy, but having made that sacrifice I now see a better life ahead. I am nowhere near what an Olympic athlete, but your point is well taken. Thanks for the great reminder!
