I found a wallet at the beach last week. Such a simple thing and yet it prompted a flood of thoughts and memories which led me to this — I’ve had a major shift in my thinking since September 11, 2001.
Today’s Game Plan: A Lost Wallet and Its Rewards
When finding a wallet or anything valuable it is sometimes better to return it to the proper owner yourself. Not for the reward but so that the actual owner gets it back as you found it. Not everyone is honest even as an authority or law enforcement official to do “what is right” when in their possession.
Thanks for writing. I hear what you’re saying. But in this particular instance especially, I felt this was the best route for expediency. We were all in vacation homes and therefore it would have required getting the owner’s cell number and such. And I also tend to operate on an assumption of trust in law enforcement in these kinds of situations.
