A few questions
Just took yet another phone survey on Hoboken mayoral politics. I guess I can check “do your civic duty” off the list today.
Can hardly wait to see how this plays out.
Are y’all on DVF overload yet? For the record, I’m not.
In fact, I love that my recent Game Plan column called Seizing the Day with DVF found its way to “Links We Love” on DVF.com. It’s right under a picture of red lips, which goes right along with my own lips fixation.
Too fab.
Hilarious and cool

Oh, those Mormons
With Big Love closed out for the season, where oh where will I get my Sunday night dose of drama and dysfunction? Watching Chloe Sevigny seethe and flare her nostrils is worth the price of admission.
Until next season …
Panned
Hands down winner of the best negative email reaction I’ve received to anything I’ve ever written — in this case, my Game Plan column on Diane von Furstenberg — and it came in the form of one line:
How shallow can one be?
Glad to see it touched someone

Loved, loved, loved writing today’s Game Plan. Sometimes it all just comes together. This one comes courtesy of the French Institute Alliance Francaise and its featured talk with iconic fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg last Monday night:

Working it
Had a good morning with my personal trainer. I love the little signs of progress that add up to really big change.
Those who know the stairs at the 9th St. PATH station in Manhattan are aware of what a great gauge they can be of cardio fitness. Basically if you’re not sucking wind when you get to street level you’re doing OK. I’m passing that test these days. I think much of that has to do with increasing my time on the elliptical machine from three minutes in October — sad, but true — to 24 minutes. Yeeha.
Also, my arms feel stronger and my thighs are more streamlined. The fact that I am also hitting my stride in my writing does not feel like a coincidence. It’s all about setting ourselves up for success, isn’t it?
I am working it, baby.
Reading the culture
Today’s Game Plan began with some dialogue between Derek and Meredith on last week’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy and brought me to signs of changing gender roles, Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Catherine Malandrino, Pink and even an episode of Friends. Go figure — Of Women and Strength.
This time
Two social commitments went away this week and while they were both things I was excited about and have been rescheduled, I am always intrigued when The Universe frees up some of my time. Tonight’s “found” time was spent getting into a heckuva writing zone. Man, I love those. They’re like recurring magic.
Tomorrow, well, we’ll see. I’m up for adventure.
Making sense of greed
From today’s New York Times Week in Review section, probably the most courageous and spiritual thing I’ve seen written about the Bernie Madoff scandal: If Looks Could Steal. It comes courtesy of Daphne Merkin.
