Hands down winner of the best negative email reaction I’ve received to anything I’ve ever written — in this case, my Game Plan column on Diane von Furstenberg — and it came in the form of one line:
How shallow can one be?
Glad to see it touched someone 😉
RE The comment on your DVF column: Lordy – someone needs to lighten up!
Were they referring to you or Diane?
One more thing…your quote here is fantastic.
“If I feel this good because I went to all this trouble today, why am I not pulling out all the stops more often? Why not feel fabulous most of the time instead of some of the time? It’s kind of like saving the china for special occasions. Why? What are we waiting for?”
Girlie, I agree, and as you know, I live by this! When we were little girls, we couldn’t wait to grow up so that we could “dress up” all the time, so let’s do it!
And it doesn’t have to take a lot of money, either, as any good Target shopper knows. In fact, I recently got an amazing beach cover-up at the Salvation Army for $2.50! It’s an oversized, crisp-cotton “puffy shirt” that will be PERFECT for over my bathing suit.
People who think fashion, or fashionistas for that matter, is shallow doesn’t understand that fashion is as much of an art form as any other. It celebrates something so basic…our bodies and our femininity! And, of course, shoes. 🙂
Sounds like you “touched” a nerve, there.
Well, good for you! 🙂
Thanks for all the feedback and support!
