I could probably choose any random week to address or focus on the schadenfreude all around us, but this one probably got to me because of all the contrarians surfacing around the Facebook IPO. Goodness, you would have thought Mark Zuckerberg created something that would decimate us rather than connect us. Easy, folks. If Facebook isn’t your thing, then don’t get in there.
So I got thinking about the miserables and the negatives and how we all get in that zone sometimes.
Today’s Game Plan: Malaise Is Not a Default Setting Worth Keeping
I am proud to be the minority. ;0)
Would love for you to expand on that.
The “miserables” have a disease called negativity. This disease can become infectious especially for a “minority” like me. Unlike the “miserables,” the “minorities” live by different rules. I have a passion for writing about rock stars. This to me is worth pursuing, even though I have a full time job sixty miles away from my home. The “miserables” complain of going ten miles out of their comfort zone and they have to go take nap. Their definition of motivation is bemoan, “I don’t know how you do it. Ohhhhhhh, I could never.” Sixty miles is totally unthinkable to them, but not to me. On my 90 minute drive, I listen to Tony Robbins, get caught up on an audio book or rock out to my favorite metal band. Am I tired? Yes, but this is my rule: I need to live like I am already a published novelist whose inked a fantastic book deal. This is the motivates me to push my passion to the next level. Eventually, my book will reach an audience worldwide then I won’t have to do sixty miles and listen to the “miserables.” THE END
I totally love this, Terry. Well said.
